Mazda 3s 'Zoom-Zoom' catch cry got plenty of attention, and for good reason.

The BK Mazda3 with a combination of sporty looks, peppy performance and dynamic handling is a winner from the get-go.

The Maxx has power steering, cloth trim, air conditioning, adjustable steering column, remote central locking, intermittent wipers, alloy wheels, six speakers, an in-dash CD stacker, remote central locking, power mirrors and power windows and multi-function screen.

Cabin
The cabin is quite a pleasant place to be, it is roomy, well equipped, and nicely laid out.

The seats are comfortable and supportive, important in a car that makes the promise of driving thrills. It has good head and legroom in the front, adequate in the rear.

There is also an array of storage options, including cupholders, holders for bottles, and pockets and bins of various sizes.

The boot is quite generous in size, the space-saver spare helped there, as did the 60/40 split-fold rear seat, which added to the useful load carrying capacity. In addition it has a well laid out tool storage shelf.

Engine
The petrol engine used in the, Maxx was a double overhead camshaft 2.0-litre four-cylinder, which had twin peaks of 104kW (139 horsepower) and 181Nm and is mated to a four-speed automatic transmission.

It is a free-revving and willing engine and ensured the Mazda 3 has plenty of get up and go whenever needed.
Driving
Mazdas 'Zoom-Zoom' pitch to buyers was built around the dynamic driving experience and the Mazda3 lives up to the promise.
The engine delivers a good blend of performance and driveability, the ride was on the firm side, but comfortable, and the chassis was agile and responsive.

Safety
The Maxx had airbags for the driver and front and side airbags for the front seat occupants, and seatbelt load limiters and pre-tensioners, and all seat belts were lap sash type.

As well as the airbags it also had ABS braking, emergency brake assist (EBA), and electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD).

Mazdas petrol engines use a cam timing chain rather than a belt, which means theres no requirement for regular maintenance in that area. There are no recalls affecting the BK Mazda 3.
